Author David Mitchell: Writing a music novel is ‘impossible’

Author David Mitchell has a prediction: “There’ll be a pandemic of artwork about the pandemic.”

The award-winning writer of novels which include Cloud Atlas and The Bone Clocks states: “I am not sure we are going to ever be composing anything that hasn’t acquired a whiff or a shade or a colour of the pandemic for the relaxation of our life.

“The pandemic will normally be in the innovative method of every artist who has lived by it.”

Coronavirus has previously had an effects on him. His new reserve, Utopia Avenue, was supposed to be revealed in June.

But its appearance was delayed and Mitchell has been locked down at his property in Cork in Eire.
