Harvey Weinstein free of coronavirus symptoms, spokesman says

(Reuters) – Harvey Weinstein, who is serving a prison sentence for rape, has no indicators of the coronavirus, his spokesman explained on Thursday, far more than two weeks just after a union formal for corrections officers explained the former film producer had analyzed optimistic.

“As of now, it’s been fourteen times considering the fact that reviews of concern from people today inside the prison, and he has no indicators and no problems,” Weinstein spokesman Juda Engelmayer explained.

Weinstein, 68, was sentenced on March eleven for sexually assaulting former generation assistant Mimi Haleyi and raping Jessica Mann, a onetime aspiring actress.

Michael Powers, head of the point out corrections officers union, explained on March 22 that Weinstein had analyzed optimistic for the coronavirus, which triggers the respiratory sickness COVID-19.

At the time, Powers explained Weinstein had been placed in isolation at Wende Correctional Facility, the greatest safety prison east of Buffalo, New York, in which Weinstein is serving a 23-yr sentence. Powers explained he was involved for corrections officers, who he explained lacked protecting products.

Powers could not be reached for remark on Thursday.

“I really do not know the exact standing of his health-related condition,” Arthur Aidala, a law firm for Weinstein, told Reuters on Thursday. “But when I communicate with him he sounds good.”

In a statement on March 23, Weinstein’s protection group would neither verify nor deny whether Weinstein had analyzed optimistic for the coronavirus. They explained statements made about his health and fitness had not been approved by the Section of Corrections and could be a violation of privacy restrictions.

Point out prison officials have explained they can’t remark on any particular person prisoner’s health-related file.

Weinstein was a person of Hollywood’s most strong producers, recognised for transforming the impartial film business. He made the Academy award winner “Shakespeare in Love” and was accountable for other acclaimed films which includes “Pulp Fiction,” “The English Patient” and “Gangs of New York.”

Far more than a hundred gals, which includes famous actresses, have accused Weinstein of sexual misconduct stretching back decades. He has denied the allegations, declaring any intercourse was consensual. 

Weinstein faces individual sexual assault costs in Los Angeles.

Imran Ansari, one more of Weinstein’s legal professionals, on Thursday declined to remark on Weinstein’s coronavirus standing, but explained Weinstein stays in the prison’s health-related device for therapy of different ailments he was suffering from prior to his arrival at Wende.

“He’s not getting any exclusive perks or therapy,” Ansari explained.
