The K Artwork Gallery is delighted to announce Edgar Heap of Birds: Punctures, an exhibition of a multitude of performs by Edgar Heap of Birds at 808 Principal Road, Buffalo, New York. Opening on Friday, Jan. 21, 2022, the exhibition contains mono prints and ghost prints, paintings from the artist’s Neuf collection and will work from his well-known Native Hosts sequence. The exhibition will also incorporate a recently produced community artwork project on the gallery’s grounds.

Heap of Birds’ mono print installations exist in two mixed forms — a established of major prints accompanied by a established of ghost prints. The key mono prints are the initial pull from the print-producing plate, though the ghost prints are from the second plate pull. As Heap of Birds notes, “[t]he primary mono prints are solid, vibrant, and bold, so articulating the way Indigenous lifetime develops, grows, and survives in spite of the American empire. The faint coloration, blurred text, and occasionally obscured image treatment of the ghost mono prints depict the United States of America’s refusal to accept Native Indigenous Nations, their background, and the brutal holocaust perpetrated on our Nations by the ruling republic.”

The artists’ Neuf collection of paintings reference Cheyenne philosophy and history with rich and vibrant colors. The paintings evoke the landscape, bodies moving, and other ideas tied to the Cheyenne nation.

Heap of Birds’ properly-regarded Indigenous Hosts is an ongoing collection of general public artwork interventions that have been in development for more than 20 several years. The host symptoms are supposed to honor indigenous citizens and request to teach the non-Native general public as to the indigenous lands on which they stay and stroll. As Heap of Birds states, “[a]s in any appropriate decorum it is fitting, in advance of one proceeds in lifestyle, to adequately acknowledge one’s host.”
