The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure claims it is “proactively” closing Freeway 3 among Hope and Princeton on Saturday (November 26) afternoon.
Freeway 99 will also be closed at that time concerning Pemberton and Lillooet, as will Freeway 1 in the Fraser Canyon.
“The precise time and period of closures will depend on the weather,” the ministry mentioned in a information release.
The closures coincide with the second of three atmospheric rivers hitting the B.C. West Coastline right up until Tuesday (December 1).
In addition, Highway 1 concerning Popkum and Hope will also be closed owing to reservoir releases by B.C. Hydro.
In accordance to the ministry, these releases are “essential to protect the Jones Lake Reservoir, which is also remaining influenced by the heavy rains”.
Highway 7 in between Mission and Hope will keep on being open with some vacation limitations.
