In the 2013 movie Schuks! Your Nation Requirements You Rob, Leon, Lare Birk and Alfred Ntombela prank unsuspecting South Africans in every day situations.

On Sunday Rob posted a assertion on Twitter in which he said he was “deeply ashamed” and “extremely sorry for the damage it has induced.”

“There is no uncomplicated way to say this. In 2013 I did blackface in a Leon Schuster movie. I am deeply ashamed about this reality and extremely sorry for the damage it has induced. I would like I could say that I didn’t know any much better at the time, but the fact is that I did.

“I made all types of excuses for myself at the time to justify doing it. I pointed to the variety of the demographics of Leon’s audience I argued that his function was most potent when it exposed white hypocrisy in the ‘rainbow nation’ and exposed the fears and anxieties of a white minority unwilling to relinquish its privilege. I persuaded myself that any of the characters I portrayed would be from a spot of really like and respect.”

The forty three-year-old even more wrote that as a white father of a boy or girl of color he failed to study his have privilege and prejudice and in spite of figuring out which path his moral compass was pointing he selected to acquire the money and operate in the reverse path.

“In the close, the money fades extremely speedily, but the selections I make keep with me. I betrayed not only myself but also my daughter. Residing with the shame of that is a small rate to pay for unlearning my prejudices and the expansion that comes with accepting the consequences of my behaviour.

“I have a obligation to myself and my daughter to be much better. I apologise unreservedly for the damage my steps have induced and for contributing to negative stereotypes from a posture of energy and privilege. I cannot adjust what I have carried out but I can be conscious of how I can lead to the discussion likely ahead from a posture of empathy and humility.”

But in particular on Twitter they said keep absent from the blackface, it can be not on. It was black people chatting to me and you’ve got got to hear. I can not do it for the reason that I will be greatly criticised.

“In the olden days it troubled no person. But I won’t go blackface now, I can not do it. There’s not one particular actor in the planet that will. It really is just racist.”
