Robin Barcus Slonina usually has a number of things heading on, creatively talking. She’s the proprietor of Pores and skin City Physique Portray a producer and judge on the Video game Clearly show Network’s system painting competition present Pores and skin Wars and she’s included with several neighborhood art ventures at any given time.
But when COVID-19 hit, she and her husband, Cirque du Soleil performer Jimmy Slonina, and their young son had been caught unprepared, like thousands of other Vegas entertainers and their people. “We have no revenue right now,” she states.
That does not necessarily mean Robin Slonina is not active, nonetheless. A person of her very long-term output tasks arrived to fruition at just the right time—a syndicated neighborhood present referred to as Vegas Unveiled. Produced in collaboration with present host Ross Gibson—in a lot less-stress filled instances, a star of Cirque’s Mystère—and Kenneth Johnson, president of neighborhood output enterprise Vegas the Community, Unveiled is a “variety docuseries” that endeavors to glow a light on the entertainers, artists, sector specialists and at the rear of-the-scenes individuals that make this city a showplace.
And even though the coronavirus has strongly afflicted output of the four-days-a-week show—the solid and crew had been only able to finish three days of studio filming and a few days of distant output prior to the shutdown—Vegas Unveiled is even now a powerful watch, largely simply because of its restrictions.
“We’re finding at the rear of-the-scenes tales about all of these Vegas personalities,” Slonina states. “This is a city that is dependent so substantially on site visitors and tourism, and we’re all just in this suspended animation, this weird holding sample the place we’re striving to figure out our futures.
“This Television set present [appears to be like at] what all of these creatives are performing with this time off—and the place they’re pivoting, like the stilt walker who’s now performing paintings in a property studio. Everybody’s locating their other techniques and skills, and we form of go to their households and are privy to what people things are.”
Slonina dreams of immaculately created segments with eye-catching developing photographs and gliding digicam work—“really limited and beautiful, like a journey present.” But thanks to the coronavirus shutdown and the show’s breakneck output pace—it’s generating 12 segments a week—there are tons of presented clips, interviewee-shot footage and Zoom calls.
But each and every now and again, there is a guest like Cirque performer Jonas Woolverton, whose segment reveals the show’s outstanding opportunity. Woolverton, a master of the Cyr Wheel—a big metal hoop he uses to roll and spin his complete system throughout the stage—is shot two ways: by way of Zoom and in a sequence of beautiful Gibson-created vignettes, of the (safely and securely masked) performer twirling and rolling silently down the abandoned Strip.
Hosts Gibson and Amy Ling carry out interesting interviews with the likes of Lijana Wallenda, the superior-wire performer who rebounded from what could have been a job-ending injury to carry out a historic wire stroll throughout Situations Sq. mentalist Paul Draper, who manages some head-blowing magic even over Zoom and the artists and business enterprise homeowners who reworked Key Road from a boarded-up wasteland to a travel-by means of art gallery fairly substantially overnight. There are food segments, clips of performers bench-pressing other persons and even “story time” segments featuring neighborhood artists like Joseph Watson and Susan Jean Deneau. It is almost nothing small of a like letter to our town’s furloughed artistic workforce, at a time when we need to have it most.

“One of our taglines is, ‘It’s your digital Vegas vacation’,” Slonina states. “Sit again, rest, consider a crack from the information of the day and let us consider you to the neighborhood hot spots—like, let us go down this alley to a karaoke bar, or let us go to Rockin Bettie’s boutique. It is a minor little bit of escapism.”
