Independence honour for Shaggy, Marcia Griffiths and Ken Boothe | Entertainment

Lifestyle Minister Olivia Grange has declared that Jamaican audio stars Shaggy, Marcia Griffiths and Ken Boothe will be honoured for the duration of the nation’s Independence celebrations on Thursday.

The 3 will be offered with Jamaica Reggae Icon Awards at the Independence Breathtaking, a digital version of the annual Independence Grand Gala on August 6. 

“COVID has pressured us to alter a lot of matters, but it will not prevent us celebrating our region and remarkable Jamaicans who’ve been this kind of good position product and inspirations, not only for us, but for the people of the globe.  It is a good joy to categorical, on behalf of the country, our good love and appreciation to Shaggy, Marcia and Ken,” explained Grange.

The Independence Breathtaking will be held without the need of an audience at the Nationwide Arena in retaining with the required limitations on gatherings to lower the spread of the coronavirus.

“Only the awardees, performers, technological, organising and management groups will be permitted at the venue.  Nonetheless, we have created arrangements for Jamaicans at house and abroad to watch the party reside on TVJ and PBCJ and on social media. And it will be a good display.” Grange explained.

The Independence Breathtaking will function presentations in audio, drama, track and dance, centered on the concept ‘Wheel and Occur Once more.’

“Wheel and Occur Once more is actually our aspiration. It is a contact to all of us to glance at our recent instances, significantly of it prompted by the pandemic, and to assess, come up with a approach and go once again like the resilient and potent Jamaicans that we are,” explained Grange.

The party will also function preferred nearby artistes like the 2020 Jamaica Competition Music winner, Buju Banton Kemar Highcon Beenie Gentleman Dre Island Christopher Martin Tessanne Chin Wayne Marshall Kevin Downswell Kukudoo Chevaughn Ikaya Shereita and Richie Stephens.

L’Acadco, Dance Xpressionz and Citi Dance Corporation will also carry out on the display, which begins at 4:00 pm with the Armed Forces Working day Parade and the Nationwide Flag Raising Ceremony.

“Each calendar year just after the Grand Gala, we would have street functions in major towns throughout the island, but the reality of COVID-19 signifies we are not able to do that this calendar year,” explained Grange.
