Britney Spears crashes Lady Gaga’s album release day with ‘new’ song

Don’t forget Britney, people?

Of course, it was all about Girl Gaga on Friday when she dropped “Chromatica,” her very anticipated fifth solo studio album.

But it grew to become a diva double feature when Gaga’s pop predecessor Britney Spears unveiled a new-ish single on Friday, too.

“Mood Ring” — which, for the commonly chirpy Spears, is moody AF — is essentially a bonus track from the singer’s previous studio album, “Glory” (2016), that was previously only out there in Japan. But now the Britney Army in the US can download and stream the track, too.

In reality, “Mood Ring” instantly shot to No. one on the iTunes chart. Yup, Brit’s nonetheless received it.

It certainly raises an eyebrow that Spears would determine to crash Gaga’s launch working day and shock fans with “Mood Ring” on the very same working day that “Chromatica” arrived.

It is as if she’s expressing, “I’m nonetheless Britney, bitch!”

But it is also telling that “Mood Ring,” painted in shockingly delicate shades, feels starkly various from the relentless club beats on “Chromatica.”

“My love is a temper ring/Up and down thoughts/All these temper swings,” sings Spears, exhibiting extra depth in just one of the better ballad performances you’ll listen to from her.

How this received left off of the US model of “Glory,” who is aware of? But let us hope it is a sign that Spears — who announced an “indefinite perform hiatus” in January 2019 — is prepared to get again in the sport with actually new new music.
