Channing Tatum on Weight Loss: Losing Weight Healthily and for the Right Reasons

It’s no secret that Channing Tatum has long been revered as one of the best-looking actors of our generation, and his perfectly chiselled body has a lot to do with this. Nabbing the lead role in “Magic Mike”, released in 2012, Tatum managed to get even fitter, dancing on screen wearing very little and showing off his perfectly sculpted abs.

However, it often seems as though many of these celebrities appear to enjoy their so-called “perfect” bodies with little to no effort, but Channing Tatum proves that this couldn’t be further from the truth. They may have access to the best fitness instructors and diet plans, but we can’t underestimate the hard work that goes into achieving the physiques that actors and actresses are expected to have.

Apart from their flashy day jobs and gorgeous mansions, celebrities are just like ordinary people, especially with regards to dealing with weight loss. It can be a difficult process for anybody, whether or not you’re a famous film star, and it has the potential to have both positive and negative consequences.

Tatum’s Experience of Losing Weight Within the Film Industry

Having made his film debut in 2005 and enjoying his breakout role in “Step Up” in 2006, Channing Tatum has been in the spotlight for long enough to have experienced the ups and downs associated with weight loss and body image.

He’s opened up about the toll that his extreme weight loss he had to undergo for his role in Magic Mike had on him, both physically and mentally. While he was already a pretty fit guy beforehand, he confessed that “it’s not even healthy. You have to starve yourself. I don’t think when you’re that lean it’s actually healthy for you.”

While he spent months trying to lose weight, working out twice a day and eating specific meals at specific times, he notes that all that progress can be lost within a few days of not following the same rigorous routine. It became his fulltime job, and Tatum noted quite plainly that there’s no waythat any ordinary person with a 9-5 job could possibly do the same. That, he concludes, is simply not healthy, nor is it sustainable.

Losing Weight: The Right Way

Of course, losing weight, in itself, isn’t the problem here – Channing professes that finally embarking on a healthy weight loss journey helped him to do so sustainably and in a way he was actually able to enjoy.

Having gained ten pounds in the beginning of the pandemic, much like many of us did, Tatum was determined to work hard to lose the weight. By training every day, mixing up his workouts, rewarding himself with things he enjoyed such as playing at a live casino online and finding a diet that worked for his body type that he could still enjoy, Tatum managed to drop the weight and feel more like himself.

While he’ll still need to go to the extremes for films every now and then, Tatum insists that he’s gained important awareness of what works for his body and the difference between losing weight healthily and unhealthily.
