Dennis Brown docufilm to highlight Int’l Reggae Day celebrations | Entertainment

Due to the climate forecast for thunderstorms, the Ministry of Tradition, Gender, Enjoyment and Sport has cancelled the outdoor live performance which was scheduled for Global Reggae Day (IRD) on Thursday, July one, at Port Royal.

Alternatively, the ministry will host the earth premiere of the docufilm, Dennis Emmanuel Brown: The Crown Prince of Reggae the Guy and the Music, indoors at the Minimal Theatre.

The docufilm was commissioned by the Ministry of Tradition, Gender, Enjoyment and Sport and produced by Judith Bodley.

The party will be staged in holding with the prerequisites of the Catastrophe Risk Management Act, which prescribes a capacity restrict for indoor venues, including theatres, a release from the ministry said.

The programme will also feature singer Richie Stephens, who will carry out a medley of Dennis Brown music, as effectively as L’Acadco executing a piece specifically choreographed by Dr L’Antoinette Stines to Dennis Brown’s Revolution.

Primary Minister Andrew Holness introduced in Parliament on June 22 that the Govt would be web hosting a live performance on Thursday, July one, at the Port Royal Cruise Terminal in celebration of Global Reggae Day.

“To signal the reopening of the amusement sector as effectively as to display how a significant party could be hosted with the appropriate protocols, the Govt will be organising a live performance on July one, 2021, at the Port Royal Cruise Terminal,” Holness informed the country.

IRD 2021 is currently being celebrated on July one as a digital ‘1Love Rally’ to unite, encourage and uplift the international reggae group. The IRD website notes, “1Love – this is the one most central concept of reggae new music. Reggae new music is synonymous all over the earth with ‘One Love’, a theory and affirmation to start with articulated by Jamaican national hero Marcus Garvey, contextualised by Rastafarian philosophy and afterwards popularised by Bob Marley and reggae new music.

“This year’s 1Love Rally marketing campaign celebrates the quite a few sides of spiritual and romantic like amplified via reggae new music – like for self, relatives, group, country, tradition and our world.”

The concept concludes, “On JulyOne, allow us unite, encourage and uplift the earth with 1Love.”

IRD will see 24 several hours of celebration for reggae tradition and its affect.
