LOS ANGELES – Kanye just desires to be Ye.
Kanye West submitted courtroom files Tuesday to lawfully change his name.
The Los Angeles Exceptional Court docket submitting states the 44-12 months-previous desires to get rid of his whole name — Kanye Omari West — in favor of just his longtime two-letter nickname, Ye, with no center name or previous name.
The files, dated Aug. 11 but not sent into the courtroom program right up until Tuesday, cite “personal reasons” for the change. An e-mail searching for comment from the lawyer who submitted the files was not instantly returned.
A choose will have to approve of the change ahead of it gets official.
West, who has termed himself Ye on his social media pages for several years, tweeted that he desired the change in 2018, expressing, “the staying formally acknowledged as Kanye West. I am YE.”
The moniker was also the title of his 2018 album. He has said in interviews that, together with staying a shortening of his very first name he likes, that it really is a word applied throughout the Bible.

West is in the center of a divorce with Kim Kardashian West, who did not ask that her previous name be modified back to just Kardashian when she submitted to break up from him in February. The couple’s 4 youngsters also have his previous name.
