In the initial of what will be a typical collection of ‘Virtual Art Shows’ by Bernews highlighting some of the island’s quite a few experienced photographers and artists as effectively as some of our personal illustrations or photos and models, this inaugural installment serves to showcase the talented young photographers that were being finalists in the Dr. Reg Grundy Yearly Youth Images Level of competition hosted by the Nationwide Museum of Bermuda.
The Nationwide Museum of Bermuda [NMB] not too long ago revealed the 27 finalists of the Dr. Reg Grundy Annual Youth Photography Opposition: Your Eyes on Bermuda, and all their excellent photos are featured in this digital art clearly show.
A spokesperson formerly said, “In memory of Dr. Reg Grundy, AC, OBE, whose photographic legacy and passion for Bermuda reside on in his work, Mrs. Joy Chambers Grundy and NMB set up the Dr. Reg Grundy Annual Youth Images Competitiveness in 2019. Open to all nearby images fanatics aged 7 – 18, the competition is made to inspire the future generation of photographers and stimulate an appreciation for Bermuda’s organic and cultural natural environment and a desire to shield it.”

Students submitted photos for the themes Bermuda Households, Bermuda Structures and Bermuda Nature in 3 age classes, 7-10, 11-14 and 15-18, and the NMB said the judges — photographer Meredith Andrews, NMB Curator Dr. Deborah Atwood and Reg Grundy Photographic Libraries Curator Chinni Mahadevan — experienced a “trying time deciding on finalists from practically 800 submissions, submitted by 29 various educational institutions.”
When questioned about this year’s level of competition, Mrs. Grundy reported: “The normal of the photos in this year’s levels of competition was fantastic. Hearty congratulations to all who entered. I hope that our competitiveness could encourage at the very least one of the entrants to grow to be a professional photographer one day.”
