White was at first supposed to portray the very hot-to-trot widow Blanche Devereaux on the comedy series about four senior women of all ages dwelling together in Miami. It ran from 1985 to 1992.

In an episode entitled “In a Mattress of Rose’s,” Rose sleeps with a person named Al Beatty and he dies in her bed.

She afterwards tells her roommates Blanche (McClanahan) and Dorothy Zbornak (performed by Bea Arthur) that she slept with yet another man named Arnie and he also died.
“And the sheriff, I instructed him about me, how I eliminate adult men and he did not believe that me,” a distraught Rose claims. “He claimed, ‘Let’s see. Rest with me.’ So I did. And the sheriff died.”
Luckily Rose was joking, a lot to the consternation of her pals.
