‘Interactive’ Art Unveiled At Victoria Park

Mayor Charles Gosling unveiled the Town of Hamilton’s most current general public artwork set up at Victoria Park by Katie Ewles, with the Town noting that it is “an interactive piece exactly where viewers can position by themselves with the artwork in a way that makes it appear as though they are blowing the wind into the sails of the boat – producing the ideal photograph possibility.”

“The piece was established by Baltimore-dependent Bermudian artist Katie Ewles as component of the City’s VIVID Public Artwork Initiative,” a spokesperson stated.

“The artwork depicts a sailboat on the water in Bermuda for the duration of sunset with the wind staying blown into its sails.

“This is an interactive piece exactly where viewers can position by themselves with the artwork in a way that makes it appear as though they are blowing the wind into the sails of the boat – producing the ideal photograph possibility!

Mayor Gosling stated, “The Town of Hamilton is delighted to showcase this great piece of artwork in 1 of our most frequented parks. It is the ideal addition to our other art installations under ‘VIVID’ – a Town of Hamilton programme which seeks to showcase Bermudian artwork whilst furthering the beautification of our Town and general public spaces.”

Ms Ewles stated: “I want to thank the Town for making it possible for me to be a component of this unique possibility. The City’s general public art programme is an awesome initiative it is so pleasurable to walk close to the Town and see art popping up all over the place!

“With this piece, I needed to make anything which men and women could have interaction with and be a component of. Public art is about earning art for the neighborhood – so men and women really feel like it belongs to them.”

The Town extra, “This is Ms Ewles’ 2nd mural in the Town of Hamilton. Her prior mural entitled “Together” was concluded in November 2018 and was mounted at the entrance to Par-La-Ville Car Park. It characteristics a kaleidoscope of colors influenced by the vivid hues of Bermuda’s homes.

“This event follows the unveiling earlier this month of two murals developed as component of the Tranquil Artwork Protest in assist of the Black Lives Subject motion which was a collaboration in between the Bermuda Countrywide Gallery and VIVID.”
