VanDusen Botanical Yard could be shut due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but its team are inviting readers on a digital tour to see the flora and fauna taking place in the park this spring.
The online video offers inspiration for inexperienced thumbs, with director of education and learning Gillian Drake exhibiting off a single of the earliest B.C. native plants to bloom in the park–the reddish-pink explosion of the flowering purple currant, a favorite of the Anna’s hummingbirds recognized to excitement all around the backyard.
Local community outreach coordinator Hailey Moran, in the meantime, details out some early-blooming pink rhododendrons and magnolias, as very well as a barred owl and great blue heron in the trees.
